House of Garbage (ポイの家, Poi no uchi) is a one-shot story by Rumiko Takahashi, published in 1992. It was adapted in anime as the 10th episode of the Rumiko Takahashi Anthology.

Summary[]

A housewife is annoyed by the front of her house being mistaken for a garbage collection site. And her annoyance would continue as her husband’s boss relies on the two to preserve his collection of bizarre mementos which his wife tries to discard.

  • Yoshio was originally not named in the manga.
  • Some characters are voiced by seiyūs who voiced other characters from other works by Rumiko Takahashi:
  • Various cameos of other episodes of the Rumiko Takahashi Anthology are featured:
    • Minoru Furuda from Middle-Aged Teen would be seen riding a bike and dumping a can many times.
    • Mr. Dōmoto from As Long As You Are Here can be seen wearing his disguise when Ritsuko and the Manager’s wife meet in town.
    • Genta watches the Abaranger from Aberrant Family F on TV.
    • The Shippō plush from The Tragedy of P appears in the landfill.
    • Atcharā from As long as you are Here appears as the person not understanding Japanese who leaves a trash bag in front of the Hirooka household at the end (in the manga, it’s a regular foreigner leaving the trash bag).
